This morning's devotional reading in A Gentle Spirit was written by Sheila Walsh. She asks for the reader to give a sentence that encapsulates his or her vision for their life. It was not too difficult for me to write mine.
My purpose is to love God and, in living a life consecrated to Him, let my light shine in such a way that people notice and desire to know Him.
Then I wrote a bit to UNPACK that statement.
1. LOVE GOD-"if you love me, keep my commandments. The greatest commandment is to love God with your whole heart, soul, mind and body. And then to love my neighbor as myself.
2.CONSECRATED LIFE-set apart from the world and walking with him; being filled and obedient to the Holy Spirit daily.
3. SHINING- Letting my light shine is
working in the gifts he has given me;
awakened to the awe of his creation and perfect path for me;
focusing my eyes and mind on Him and His liberating truths;
loving life and everyone in it;
radiating with a joy that only comes from daily emptying of self and filling with his spirit;
demonstrating a calm, confident faith in God that is an anchor and a lantern to those around me.
